FROM CARSON FAMILY RECORDS: ANDREW CARSON, SO FAR AS OUR INFORMATION GOES, WAS THE FIRST OF OUR CARSON FAMILY TO COME TO AMERICA FROM NORTH IRELAND. HE WAS MARRIED TO PEGGY BLACKWOOD. THEY WERE IN A GROUP OF IMMIGRANTS WHO CAME TO WHAT IS NOW GASTON COUNTY, N.C. AND MADE THEIR HOME ON CROWDERS CREEK, UNDER THE SHADOWS OF CROWDERS MOUNTAIN. THE CARSONS AND THE BLACKWOODS, OATES, FALLS, FERGUSONS, CRAWFORDD, WHITESIDES, AND OTHERS WERE AMONG THEM. THE OLD CARSON HOME WAS ON THE HILL, NOT FAR FROM THE SPOT WHERE PISGAH CHURCH NOW STANDS. THE GROUP ARRIVED CIRCA 1760. ANDREW FOUGHT IN BTL OF KINGS MT. 4 OCT 1780. HIS WILL IS IN LINCOLN CO. CT.HSE.
