GASTONIA NEWS,OCT.25,1910: DIED AT HIS HOME ON WEST MAIN AVE.,GASTONIA-WHILE WALKING IN HIS GARDEN. HE FELL TO THE GROUND SUCCUMBING TO AN ATTACK OF NEU- RALGIA OF THE HEART. HE HAD ATTENDED CHURCH EARLIER AT THE GASTONIA ARP CHURCH, WHERE HE
WAS A MEMBER. HE WAS A MEMBER OF THE AMER.BIBLE SOCIETY. HE JOINED THE CONFEDERATE ARMY IN 1862. HE WAS A MEMBER OF CO. B,28TH N.C. REG. HE WAS IN 21 BATTLES, WOUNDED ONCE BY A BAYONET-LEAVING A SCAR ON HIS ARM-AT THE BATTLE OF FREDERICKSBURG.
HE WAS A MEMBER OF WM. GAMBLE CAMP OF UNITED CONFED.VETERANS. HE HAD NO CHILDREN, SURVIVED BY HIS WIFE, BROTHER J.B. AND SISTER ELIZABETH.Reference number
