COTTON CANDY

Our sweet little Cotton Candy is gone now. We had to have her put down on December 28, 1999. There is a big empty spot in Larry's & my heart. Candy was a special little girl. Larry & I thank you all who sent us the beautiful cards, kind words, and prayers. I don't have the words to tell you what that meant to us. My sister sent these verses in a note. "In His Hand is the life of every living creature" Job 12:10, "A good man is concerned for the welfare of his animals." Proverbs 12:10

Here goes the shot! It really wasn't that bad :-)

This is me & my wonderful Doctor, her name is Dr. Baeyens. She has taken care of me since 1992. Dr. Baeyens also rebroke my leg & set it so it is very straight now:-)Someday I may have my x-ray picture here so you can just see how bad my leg used to be! I have arthritis very bad, so Dr. Baeyens is giving me 5mg of adeguan once a week, it has made me so much better, I can stand up again. I was having to just lay in my basket all day long:-(, but now I'm up & playing with my toys & loving life again, because I do want to live!

Moluccan Cockatoo

Hello, my name is Cotton Candy, I'm a Moluccan Cockatoo. I am 15 years old, I lived for some years being badly abused. I was so very sad! I was beaten & got my leg broken. I never went to the doctor & got it fixed so I can't use it. I'm also blind in one eye from an old injury. I started out my life in the forest, you see I'm wild caught. I've been in a couple of good homes, Oh, but let me tell you about now! Well, when I came here, I was really scared, I didn't know if that lady was gonna be mean & hit me or not, so I just sat quietly in my new pretty cage(I did like the cage,very pretty). My new mommy gave me lots of toys,boy was I ever scared of those things at first! I just love them now, I hit, swing & bite them all the time! My mommy told me that I never had to play if I didn't want to or I never had to talk or even let her touch me, if I didn't want to. I love for mommy & even daddy to kiss all over me & love on me anytime. Guess what else, I get peanutbutter & smashed nannas every night before bedtime,ummmm gooood!! I am ever so HAPPY now! Sometimes my mommy stands & looks at me & gets a tear in her eyes, I don't know why, cause I am sooo very happy now & I know I will live the rest of my life here with mommy & daddy (& the dogs & the cats & the horse & all the other birds) Well, I hope I didn't make you bored, but I just had to tell ya bout my wonderful home!
Here I am again, with my mommy! I just love all this attention.:-)
