Apart from Miami-Dade County Corrections, I have been pursuing an education in the operation and management of a small business. From seminars, lectures, and through other various avenues, I now have the basic knowledge of how a business starts, grows, and becomes successful. I am familiar with numerous marketing strategies and how to research the clients and competition, basic accounting and human resource skills and ideas.
I am proficient in Windows 95, 98, and Millennium editions. In addition to the Department�s Criminal Justice System (CJS), I am knowledgeable in the following applications: Word Perfect, MS Word, MS Publisher, MS Front Page. I have extensive knowledge of the internet, including the production of web pages complete with animated, midi and wave files.
I have obtained a chauffeurs "Class B" license with endorsements of passengers, emergency lights, and air brakes from the State of Florida. I have worked independently as a driver/chauffeur on several occasions. I was a Notary Public of the State of Florida, and my commission just expired on 01/30/2000, Bonded through Ashton Agency, Inc. # CC528773. I will be acquiring another Notary Public for the State of North Carolina shortly.
I have proven my ability to successfully direct and supervise my department and its employees.
EXPERIENCE
Miami-Dade County Corrections and Rehabilitation
From 11/17/80 to 7/01/2000
I was a Correctional Corporal from August 8, 1988
to July 1, 2000.
Worked at Pre-Trial Detention Center (DCJ) as team
corporal in charge of supervising "Psych Inmates". Duties include all care,
custody, and control of inmates. This position required quick judgment calls, the full
cooperation of the team correctional officers, and acute accuracy due to the high volatile
environment of psych inmates. Held this position for five years with above average and
outstanding evaluations.
Worked at Pre-Trial Detention Center (DCJ) as the senior Corporal on the afternoon shift. Responsibilities to include the direct supervision of officers in the Rear Lobby, 4th floor, 5th floor, 6th floor, 8th floor and 9th floor (roving position assigned to different floors each day), escort of safety cell inmates to various locations inside and out of the facility, security checks to insure that all equipment is working properly.
Worked at the Metro-West Facility as Senior Corrections Corporal, located in the Special Management Unit. Duties include the supervision of correctional officers as well as overseeing the care, custody and control of "High Profile Inmates". Responsibilities also include conducting security checks, assuring that all equipment for the unit are operable as well as officer scheduling. Presently held this position for one year with above average evaluations.Worked at Metro-West Facility as Senior Corporal in charge of the Central
Control Unit. Duties include extensive knowledge of the facility security computer system.
Managed all security aspects of the facility; the opening and closing of all doors and
cells, as well as monitoring all security cameras. Held this position for four years with
above average and outstanding evaluations.
Worked at Dade County Jail Facility as team corporal in charge of supervising "Psych
Inmates". Duties include all care, custody, and control of inmates. This position

Worked at Dade County Jail Facility as an inmate counselor. Duties included assisting with
inmates grievances while incarcerated, and preparing inmates for a rehabilitated
lifestyle. Held this position for one year.
Worked at the Metro Dade Training and Treatment Center as a Correctional Officer I. Duties
included the daily care of inmates. Held this position for four years.

PERSONAL STATEMENT
Coming from a family of FBI Agents, Police Officers, and Firefighters, I have come to appreciate the significance of dedication and loyalty toward the community. Having worked in a fast-paced environment that requires acute accuracy has fine tuned my organizational skills. I am capable of producing fast and efficient work under pressure, while maintaining a professional attitude and appearance. I believe strongly in being a team player and I am able to supervise groups and group projects. Continuous motivation and positive thinking has heightened my eagerness to learn and move forward.
