We get mail, not a lot, but still some themes start to emerge.  (We would like a lot more mail, especially your trip reports...send 'em in!)  Here is a sampling of the most asked for answers.

Q. Where can I rent a wheelchair in Milwaukee?

A.  This question comes in a lot, though the location varies of course.  Unfortunately, the answer is "I haven't got a clue", unless their asking about my home town, Los Angeles.  The best thing to do in this situation is to consult the Yellow Pages and online Yellow Pages services for Medical Equipment and start making phone calls to the vendors in the cities you are going to visit.  Just a quick look in my local yellow pages turns up half a dozen vendors who rent wheelchairs.

Q. Where can I rent a wheelchair accessible RV?

A. Fortunately, I do know the answer to this one.   El Monte RV Rentals rents a  wheelchair accessible RV  and has locations in several states across the nation.  Rates vary depending on dates, vehicle size, etc.

Q. Should I take my power wheelchair to Mexico?  What kind of accessible transportation do they have there?

A. Unless there is absolutely no other alternative, I would not recommend taking a power chair to Mexico or any other third-world nation for that matter.  I have not seen any accessible transportation there.  On the other hand, we've had good luck with airport personnel in Mexico and the people we've run across have always been willing to lend a helping (and lifting) hand and , slowly, Mexico is getting more accessible with ramps and curb cuts sprouting up all over.  The best way is to take a manual chair...even though this means losing some independence...and a companion who can push and lift.   Remember, the ADA only extends as far as the U.S. borders.  You do not have its protections in another country.

Q. These trips on your web site look great.  Can you book me on one this summer?

A. No.  We only provide trip reports/travelogs on this site as a service so you can use them as a guide to plan your own travel.  We are not a travel agent and are not trying to sell anything to you.

Q. Where's the Death Tour?

A. The Death Tour is no longer posted on this site.  While many found it informative and entertaining...indeed this whole site started because Death Tour fans wanted a broader outlet for it...others  complained that it was morbid.  Personally, I find it a fascinating bit of  history and think it's a fun way to get people interested in history but in no way do I want  to offend people who take it in the wrong way.  Also, getting pictures that are not copyrighted and the permission that goes with them was getting harder to accomplish and Death Tour fans complain when there are no pictures to go with the text.

The Death Tour still exists off the web page in the same form as it started...a private family tour that takes place every Christmas Eve.

Q.  Can you put a link to my page?

A. Sure, as long as it has something of interest to the disabled community or travelers in general.  I'm not really interested in adding extremely commercial links such as timeshares and the like.  However, if you have a legitimate commercial page of interest, such as a hotel with exceptional access, I would gladly add a link to you.  It does take me awhile to get to this though, so don't expect it overnight.  For those links I do put in, I would appreciate a link back here just as a matter of fairness.  On the other hand, if you already have a link to my page that I don't know about, I would appreciate you letting me know so I can thank you with a link back.

Q. How come you don't have any reports on Chicago (or any of the places I want to visit)?

A. Because I haven't been there yet or in recent years or no one has sent in a report from those areas.  I would gladly put up reports from any place on the globe...if only someone would send them to me.  Want to get published on the web?  Send me a report.  Otherwise, reports will trickle in as we get to different places.  Since the money for those trips comes out of my pocket, they do not happen as often as we'd like.

Q. How would you like to make a million dollars working from home?

A. How do you like your e-mail going directly into the trash bucket?  Of course all spam like this is unappreciated and I can not fathom why some people think this is a valuable way of marketing their business.
