Click on Location below to find out how accessible it's public transit is.

    CALIFORNIA
  • SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

    • Downtown Los Angeles

METROLINK provides weekday interurban connections to points north, south, and east with lines terminating in San Bernadino, Riverside, Oceanside, Lancaster, and Oxnard.

MTA blankets the area with buses that historically provide bad service to chair users. Their rail service is much better providing subway service to Hollywood and Vine and trolley service to Long Beach.

DASH provides excellent ramped local service throughout the downtown area for only a quarter.

Downtown is also the terminus of express lines operated by numerous municipal carriers such as Foothill Transit, Santa Monica bus Lines, Torrance Transit, Antelope Valley Transit, Montebello Bus Lines and more.

      Long Beach

LONG BEACH TRANSIT provide lift-equipped bus service throughout the city. It's ramped Runabout minibus service is free in the downtown/Queen Mary area. Look for the seagull on top of the bus stop signs for Runabout service.

MTA, although a disaster with buses, serves Long Beach with the Blue Line light rail line which connects downtown Long Beach with downtown L.A. All stations and trains are accessible via ramps.

      San Diego

The SAN DIEGO TROLLEY connects downtown to the border in San Ysidro and El Cajon in the east. Stations and trains are accessible. A lift is used at the front of each train. Excellent transportation.

The COASTER provides express train service between downtown and Oceanside. Stations have a loading ramp and the bottom level of each train is accessible.

SAN DIEGO TRANSIT also runs accessible bus service throughout the county.

      San Gabriel Valley

FOOTHILL TRANSIT serves the eastern half of the San Gabriel Valley, Pasadena, and operates express service from the El Monte bus station to downtown L.A. via the San Bernadino Freeway Busway. All buses are lift-equipped and are usually in good repair.

METROLINK provides express train service to downtown L.A., San Bernadino, and Riverside via 2 lines that traverse the valley Monday-Saturday. Stations are in El Monte, Baldwin Park, Covina, and City of Industry. Each station has a loading ramp and the bottom level of each train is accessible...including an accessible restroom.

MTA serves the rest of the valley with buses that are supposed to be accessible but in reality, lifts are often in poor repair, broken, or operators don't know how or refuse to operate them. We cannot recommend MTA buses for wheelchair passengers at this time.

      Orange County

OCTA provides accessible bus transit throught Orange County.

      Inland Empire

RTA provides accessible bus transportation throughout Riverside County.

OMNITRANS provides accessible bus transportation in San Bernadino County.

METROLINK provides express train service between Riverside/San Bernadino to downtown L.A. and Riverside to Orange County Monday through Friday. The SB-L.A. line also operates on Saturday. Stations are in Pomona, Montclair, Rancho Cucamonga, San Bernadino, Redlands, Riverside, and Corona. Each station is ramped and the bottom level of each train is accessible including the restroom.
