What's New
(As of 28 May 1999)
- The Forfeiture Reform Bill is now in the senate. Please go to my page on Forfeiture Reform Resources and see what you can do to help!
- My latest contribution to Political Cynicism!
A handy tool for those that find it very difficult to identify the Republican species from the Democrat species, "How to Tell a Democrat from a Republican" is now on-line. Thanks to AMPOL for publishing an earlier version.
- My views on the close connection between Liberty and Private Property are presented in my paper, "Property and Liberty: You can't give up one without losing the other" at The Progress Report.
- An incredible collection of links to Science, Philosophy, History, Humanistic Psychology, and many other fields in Science and Liberal Arts is located at the Halcyon Site.
- "The Internet Guru" offers "Politics, Internet, and Gravity"! You will find excellent essays on the realities of politics there as well as help for your web page, if you need it.
- "Freedom in the UK". The author of this site has collected together and discussed many of the
issues around freedom and society.
- A new site dedicated to those of us that have more than one or two interests in life, the Polymath Society, is now on line.
- Check out the powerful essay on contempory American politics, "Land Mine Legislation", by Claire Wolfe, at the Wolfe's Lodge site.
- A site that elaborates on the ways the government has found to take the citizens' properties -- as well as their rights --, FATAL BLINDNESS. Several chapters of the book with the same title are available for the download.
- I have volunteered some of my time to the Forfeiture Endangers American Rights (F.E.A.R) organization, which is "a national nonprofit organization dedicated to the reform of federal and state asset forfeiture laws, to restore due process, and to protect the property rights of innocent citizens". To that end, my primary contribution will be in writing reviews of newsworthy events about this horrible abuse of government power. These reviews are being posted to the F.E.A.R. List. Please check it out and send me email if you find something worthwhile on this subject.
- Charles Miller has generously allowed me to post the on-line version of his book, U.S. v. Grandma here. The book is a fascinating and detailed personal account of government asset forfeiture gone bad. I have also posted a copy of his testimony to Congress about this disturbing program of the government.
- Now listed on The Big Eye,
, a great compilation of interesting links!
- Selected for the TOP TEN LIST by the CONSTITUTION Notebook
- My Political Almanac was selected as
Political Site of the Day on November 10, 1997
- John L. Jackley's book, Hill Rat
Mr. Jackley, the author of the fascinating book on the workings of Congress, as seen through the eyes of a "Hill Rat", has granted permission for me to display a chapter of his book. As a representative chapter, I chose "The Favor Factory". Check it out!
- Leon's Political Almanac
I have added a Calendar and "Today in Political History" page for your enjoyment and enlightenment. There are many "Today in History" resources on the internet. What is different about mine is that it is 1) limited to Politics and 2) It has links from the items displayed! Please give it a try. But be patient -- I am still building it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
- Wow! A Search Engine for this somewhat overgrown web site! Hope you like it.
- Latest "Pearl of Wisdom" discovered:
"This and no other is the root from which a tyrant springs; when he first appears he is a protector."
---Plato, circa 400 BC
