In the Name of God, Amen. I RICHARD GOLDSBY, of the County of Shelby and State of Tennessee, being of sound mind and disposing memory for which I thank God and calling to mind the uncertainty of human life, knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and publish this my last Will & Testament, That is to say,

First of all. I recommend my soul unto the hand of the Almighty God that gave it, and my Body I recommend to the earth to be buried by decent Christian Burial - and as touching such worldly Estate which it has pleased God to bless me with I give bequeath & dispose of it in the following manner and form --

First. I will that all my just debts be paid.

Second. I give and bequeath to my Daughter FERUBY BRADLEY Twenty dollars out of my Estate, she having heretofore received that portion of my Estate that I designed for her.

(Third) I give to my Daughter ELIZA BARNETT Twenty dollars out of my Estate she having heretofore received that portion of my Estate that I designed for her.

I Give to my son THORNTON B. GOOLSBY Twenty Dollars he having heretofore received that portion of my Estate that I designed for him

I Give to my Grand Son PETER R. GOOLSBY Twenty dollars having formerly given to my son PETER R. GOOLSBY the father of my said Grand Son that portion of my Estate, that I designed for him.

I give all the ballance of my Estate consisting of Land, Negroes & other personal property to my two sons, MILES W. GOOLSBY & TERRIL T. GOOLSBY to be equally divided between them.

And I hereby constitute and appoint my two sons MILES W. GOOLSBY and TERRIL T. GOOLSBY Executors of this my last will and Testament hereby revoking all other and former wills by me at any time heretofore made.

In Witness Whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this 14th day of March in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty nine.

The last Will & Testament of RICHARD GOLDSBY decd, was produced in open Court & JOHN RALSTON and EMANUEL BAKER two subscribing witnesses thereto who after being first sworn depose and say that he RICHARD GOLDSBY acknowledged the same in their presence to be his last Will & Testament and that he was of sound mind & disposing memory all of which is ordered to be recorded.Recorded April 9th A D 1840 - JOHN W.
