On the Incompatability of the Dark Truth with Erud's Vision
On the Incompatability of the Dark Truth with Erud's Vision
by Auraline, loyal servant of Quellious the Tranquil

The abiding testimonial of Erud is indubitably the all-encompassing nature of what has become known, vulgarly, as Eruds Vision. It is popularly supposed that the Heretics of Paineel have rejected this vision, but this is not so. They have, as has been scholarly stated elsewhere, merely modified Eruds theories to include elements originally not addressed by our Founder.

The question arises therefore as to why these theories did not gain acceptance amongst the majority of Erudites. It seems patently unlikely that the High Council, comprising the finest minds in all Erud, would be unable to grasp that the ultimate objective of the Heretic philosophy did not differ from their own conceptions. In casting out the worshipers of Cazic-Thule therefore, they must have considered not only the objective of Eruds vision but also the manner in which this vision was to be realised. The argument could be made that as Erud did not address this issue he considered it unimportant, but against this is the counter-argument that the validity of method was self-evident to him.

I would argue that the augmentation of the intellect is of little use if the mind is darkened in the process. Nor is it possible for the free expression of creativity to flourish in even the greatest genius if it is turned in on itself. In short, the treasured reunification of the sundered clans of Erud will only be achieved once the illegal oxymoron of scholarly necromancy is fully rejected.
