CONCERNING ODUS
When Erud set foot on the motherland’s shores,
Grateful of finding what he’d sought to find,
Getting involved in great conflicts and wars,
Was the farthest thing from our Leader’s great mind.
But it seems the Vah Shir there could not understand,
Though our ancestors tried, oh their best, to explain,
That th’isle of Odus, now our motherland,
Would thenceforward our culture and learning sustain.
But stupid King Kerrath, the poor, wretched cat,
Resisted, to drive civ’lization away,
But, no match for our might, he was done with thereat,
And the isle is ours to this very day.
-Gallius Gatecaller

ALSO CONCERNING ODUS
An Erudite came to Heav'n's Gate,
His head was hanging low,
He askèd then of Quellious,
Which way he had to go.
Responded then the Child,
His manner crystal-clear,
"And where hast thou adventured,
To warrant entrance here?"
Thus the Child of Erud,
His brow furl'd up with fear,
"I only stayed on Odus,
For many a tir'ing year."
Quellious took him by the arm,
And gently pressed a bell,
"Come in, my friend, and choose your harp,
Thou'st had thy share of Hell!"
