Guild Code
The Laws of Odus
High Keepers and Foreign Legion of Odus

ARTICLE I. Guild Charter
It is the purpose of the High Keepers of Odus to enable, encourage and promote the establishment of Erudite characters in the world of Norrath. By a combination of teaching, honouring and ennobling, we seek to make our members a credit to themselves, their chosen profession, and their guild.

In our capacity as Erudites, we do not look down on others, but merely seek to ensure the fulfilment of our own potential. We hold that the presence of an Erudite should be a welcome sight for any of the denizens of Norrath. We promise to abide by the Terms of Membership.

As a united Erudite affiliation, we seek to create an envrionment wherein all Erudites can learn, study, and explore their world and culture with the mutual support of their peers; to work towards the reunification of the Erudite race, to the extirpation of the crippling schisms which have divided us; and to spread our culture and influence over the lands of Norrath.

ARTICLE II. Guild Doctrine
I. All Erudites are equal as individuals.
II. All Erudites are superior to every member of every other race in Norrath. The breaking of this doctine is Heresy.
III. All Erudites are Keepers of Odus; the governance of no other race holds sway here. The breaking of this doctine is Treason.

ARTICLE III. Terms of Membership
To be an Erudite is both an honor and a privilege. In order to uphold the good name of our race and the guild, members must promise to uphold our code:

1) We encourage members to develop distinctive personalities for their characters and to roleplay them out. We hold that Erudites are the pinnacle of cultural progression in Norrath. No other race is our equal. Do not /kneel to members of other races, except possibly Koada'Dal or Tier'Dal (depending on your alignment) or very senior members of your profession.
2) Guild members must separate other characters from the players behind them. It is good to roleplay disdain to other races, but you must treat other players with politeness and respect, even if they do not afford you the same courtesy. There are plenty of ways in the game of dealing with such people. The use of abusive language, “kill stealing”, usurping camps, and “ninja looting” all count as impolite and disrespectful. So too is either threatening or harassing other players.
3) Ask for assistance from others by all means, but don’t beg. It is demeaning to your status as a child of Erud.
4) Help other players if at all possible, particularly other Erudites and especially fellow guild members. By this we do not mean you are obliged to drop what you are doing and run six zones with someone on a corpse run. You have a life in Norrath too. However, if you can render assistance with directions, advice on quests and so on you should do so.
5) Assist others with gifts, although your aid should be appropriate. Generosity may be a virtue, but a 3rd level character with fine steel plate armour is ridiculous and unfair to other players. Guild members should assist, not overwhelm.

In turn, the guild has a duty to its members. If you get into disputation with other players, guilds or authorities, The High Keepers will represent you and your interest. However, we cannot and will not support actions contrary to our charter and code.

The guild promises to develop its members, by the sharing of trade and language skills, by advice on quests and knowledge of zones, by techniques of grouping and soloing. The guild will organise events to bind the members together. These will include collective raids into dungeons, sweeps of open-air zones, and general learning events.

ARTICLE IV. Government
This is the structure of the High Council of Odus, which is the governing body of both the High Keepers of Odus and the High Soldiers of Odus. The High Council of Odus is comprised of representatives from the sister guilds High Keepers of Odus and High Soldiers of Odus. Representation is as follows:

The (1) ARBITRATOR of the High Keepers
Four (4) HIGH COUNCILLORS of the High Keepers
The (1) GENERAL of the High Soldiers

POWERS OF THE HIGH COUNCIL
-The High Council must convene and collectively decide on the following issues:

I. The election of a new Arbitrator from among the Councillors on the Ides of every fourth month (beginning on the Ides of May, MMII, when it was rotated from Gallius to Ishtarrak.)
II. The declaration of guild wars and alliances.
III. The conduction of Pugni Conlegio (guild raids.)
IV. The amendment of guild charter or doctrine.

-All other powers fall to the Arbitrator, who should, but is not required to, regularly consult with the High Councillors for support and advice, although official meetings of the High Council are unneccessary for other matters.

AMENDMENT I. The High Soldiers of Odus is henceforth no longer subject to the administration of the High Keepers of Odus, and the High Keepers of Odus is henceforth no longer responsible for the High Soldiers of Odus. In the place of the High Soldiers will be the Foreign Legion of Odus under the command of General Pallidmortis Muertoschupacabra.

AMENDMENT II. The names of the Arbitrator, High Council of Odus, and High Councillor are hereby changed to First Consul, Senate, and Senator, respectively.

AMENDMENT III. The General of the Foreign Legion will not be able to be nominated for the Consulship as long as he/she holds that office.

AMENDMENT IV. The General of the Foreign Legion will be a full voting member of the Senate as long as it is an Erudite that holds the office.

AMENDMENT V. No council member shall be nominated for Consulship until he has been a Senate member for at least one full term of a current Consul (at least four months).

AMENDMENT VI. Due to presently established precedent, the original power delegation to the Arbitrator (Consul) and High Council (Senate) as established in the original law is henceforward null and void. The First Consul will be the leader of the High Keepers of Odus and the General will be the leader of the Foreign Legion of Odus. Both will rule at the pleasure and by the appointment of the Senate, to which supreme power over both guilds will fall. In return for this, the Senate will do its best to leave minor issues to the judgement of each guild's respective leader.

AMENDMENT VII. The First Consul will be a full voting member of the Senate.

AMENDMENT VIII. Article IV is hereby repealed. The new government will be led by the Emperor of Odus, who will be checked by the democratically-elected four-member Senate.
