Who are They

No presentation needed. One of the three Portuguese Big clubs. They were formed in Belém in 1904 as Grupo Sport Lisboa and in 1908 they merged with Grupo Sport Benfica adopting the present name. Since then, they became the club with most supporters and the most successful in the 60´s, 70´s and 80´s. They won the European Cup twice and were five times beaten finalists.

Stadium

Benfica play at the 65.000 Estádio da Luz (Stadium of Light). Built for Euro 2004, is very similar to Emirates Stadium in London what it's not strange as both stadiums were designed by the same company: HOK Sports. The stadium is four tiered with all seats in red. Outside don't miss Eusebio Statue and the giant eagle at the entrance of the stadium.

The present stadium was built over the old stadium were the club played between1954 and 2003.

How to get there

The best way to arrive to Benfica stadium is by Metro. Use the stations of Colégio Militar or Alto dos Moinhos in the Blue Line. If you want to go by bus, you can take any bus that goes to Colegio Militar.

Around the stadium

The Lisbon Zoo is two/tree stations far (Jardim Zoológico). In the same line you can go to the Lisbon downtown.
