Yes, Jerusalem is right on top, when dealing with spiritual issues. Similarly, when counseling, the client should feel very similar: He should be the center of your attention, and made to feel that he is among the most important people in the world.
An optometrist once asked an acquaintance to wait longer in line, so that he could check out an important personality who was waiting for his turn. During his visit, the optometrist told the acquaintance about the important patient.
That optometrist was not thinking about my acquaintance. He and his eyes were not the most important issue. The optometrist was wallowing in his own importance, because a personality had visited him.
My acquaintance never returned to or recommended that optometrist.
Your client is the most important person to you at that time. He needs all of your attention.
Do not compare your client to anybody else. Do not speak about others as being important. Everybody is important.
You may be excited after dealing with a personality. How do you overcome your overwhelming feelings?
If you really have a problem, then treat that personality on a day when you have no other clients. Perhaps the personality should come in the beginning of the day. You can then take off as much time as necessary in order to focus on other clients properly.
In other words, don't attempt to overcome your problem. Accept the fact that you will feel this way about the personality, and work around it.
As a side note, it is not proper to speak to one client about another. Again, every client should be made to feel as if he is the center of your feelings and importance. It is also because you should maintain professional confidentiality.
