Those who make Yeridah used to be questioned. This is no longer the case. Israelis who choose to live in the United States meet people who feel that it is natural for any Jew to want to leave Israel after having been there for some time.
This is quite different from those living in other countries. They don't have to defend their choice of homeland. They don't have to bounce back and forth between Israel and "home."
People used to say that they were leaving Israel for a year or two on vacation, sabbatical, or another excuse. It used to be shameful to leave Israel.
Today people openly and proudly proclaim that they want to leave Israel in order to enjoy a "better" life. As a result, many of us who remain in Israel no longer question the motives of those who have left.
There is no reason to be proud of this situation.
