Where I come from, we have freedom of religion. You guys have to learn how to fix up the way religion is handled in your country. You have to develop an imaginative, positive, forward-looking country.
You can do it. You can turn Israel into the country that it was meant to be and was destined to be. You do want it to be great like America, long may it wave, don't you?
When I came to Israel last chol hamoed, I had to walk nearly half a mile, even though I was sick, in order to find a minyan for the second day of yom tov. Can you imagine that? Doesn't Israel care? Can't you arrange to have a minyan where it's needed?
Israel should make arrangements so that people can observe their religion properly. That's what religious freedom is all about.
You know, I asked a lot of Israelis about how they managed, and they gave me some very strange answers. You know, I find out that most of them seem to skip that second day of yuntif. They don't even bother. It's probably because they don't want to walk half a mile to that shul. What a copout. They say they treat that second day like any other weekday. Something's wrong over there in your country.
If I can't observe life as an observant Jew over there, then I'm better off in the United States. You know, this is proof that it's better to be a Jew in the United States. We have every single thing that we need. Israel is not a real Jewish state. It's full of hypocrites.
