Workless diskstations

Office computers can be networked so that each workstation speaks directly to the main computer, which has all the necessary information. There is no reason - or way - for the individual worker or employee to add anything to the system. This works great to keep out viruses, and it allows for maximal centralized control. As a result, the worker does or can do only what the boss wants him to do - which is what the boss wants, but not necessarily what the worker wants to do.

We understand that the system works in Japan. The guys there are disciplined. Even the United States has a good work ethic.

Israel is different. Did you ever try to tell an Israeli the right way to do something? Did he ever listen to you without giving his own opinion? Doesnt he always have a better way to do anything?

Thats the pleasure of being a consultant in a nation of consultants. It means giving advice to a nation of etza gebbers.

Israelis at the cutting edge of technology have learned how to push their computers beyond their natural capacities. Those in the Israeli computer industry bewail the trend of Israelis buying a limited machine and trying to push it beyond what it is meant to do.

However, it can also be seen as a positive situation. It may led to the sought-after goal of not having to do any work, while letting the computer do it all.

Imagine being able to insert a disk in your computer and have it run your errands and prepare your daily routine chores. You wouldnt have to do anything at all.

That vision of a workless diskstation can start nowhere else than in the Middle East, where we sit around smoking nargilas and playing sheshbesh all day at crowded neighborhood cafes.

You're probably thinking that it's not fair. After all, you are working.

Tsk, tsk.

Where do you want to go now?
