Budgeting? Financial planning?

People abroad spend a lot of time calculating how much money they have and what they can afford. Israel offers yet another advantage in that arena. It can save a great deal of your valuable time and effort.

Don't even try to budget your money.

Unpredictable devaluations make guesswork out of the money in your pocket. However, that's not all. Israelis also live with a flexible economy that cannot be understood.

We never know what bill will surprise us tomorrow. Expenses are created and retracted by governmental and political whim. New taxes appear on our salary statement after each major war.

But there's also no way of knowing when our salary will be credited with a vacation or clothes allowance. Like any other miracle, we didn't ask for it, we didn't expect it, it just comes.

When the government wants to encourage larger families, they raise the children's allowances. However, when they need money to pay for the latest war, they cut back on the payments. Nobody really knows what will happen tomorrow, although the government always has money to fund research that will explain why their latest plan doesn't work. Let's help our government consider some options that they never thought of before:

In general, the Israeli tax system works in the following way:

The female chauvinistic tax structure starts earlier, with the family structure itself. It encourages women to marry in order to pay lower taxes. The woman of the house pays income tax based on a sliding scale, determined by the number of children in the family under the age of 18.

Thus, not only do her dear parents nuzzhe her to get married, but the State of Israel helps as well. Maybe that's why Israel is called a Motherland.

Clearly, there's no way to plan whether we can afford a new major appliance or home. If we plan, we discover that we cannot afford them. Since planning will not work anyhow, we just buy what we need, when we feel like it.

With a system like this, is it any surprise that Israel doesn't even bother offering courses such as Home Economics 101?

Where do you want to go now?
