Degree of faith

People in Israel often exhibit a greater degree of faith than those living abroad. This may not be a coincidence. It's difficult to determine who "believes" more, but there is certainly nothing wrong with a baseless conjecture.

The following theory has not been tested or studied objectively. It is an observation based upon selective on-line discussions with people on various Jewish forums.

Israelis are exposed to a great number of dangers and trials. They are fully aware that the Israeli economy is not as solid as that enjoyed by their relatives abroad. As a result, some people sacrifice physical comforts, and their accommodations may be less luxurious than they would have preferred.

These facts, and others, may raise questions that would not be discussed in more affluent or secure societies:

Some of these questions may be answered through issues of faith:

Those who accept those principles may reduce the status and importance of other issues. As a result, it may be argued that Israelis view issues in a more spiritual manner than those who live abroad.

Those issues respond to many questions beginning with "Why...."
