Things have changed over the past century.
Until recent generations, religion was perceived as a strict divide. You were either religious or you weren't, and you placed yourself in either one well-defined camp or in the other.
Over the course of time, Israel followed Western influence, and developed many intermediate shades of gray. By today, people place themselves on a spectrum, from very religious to anti-religious. Many people also have very strong feelings about their position vis vis Judaism - ranging from the politically correct to loud street demonstrations.
This situation changes rapidly in Israel, because of its immense immigration, and its constant debates about Who is a Jew?
Most sections in this website are clearly differentiated. You will find discrete distinctions between the author's point of view and others, including your own.
This Religion section is different. You will undoubtedly fall into a certain range. That makes it more difficult to place yourself - and to identify with your "own" group.
On the other hand, it does mean that some people are thinking more about their Jewishness, and their own place in the general Jewish scheme of things.
