Tremors

If Israel is my country, then the earthquake zone (like so many other issues) is my fault. These articles explained many of our other rifts, but it does leave out the biggest of them all.

The Syrian-African rift goes right through my little back yard, and every so often it reminds us that it is there. It's the "other" reason why I may be just a it wobbly on my feet, and why our dishes often shake, rattle, and roll. Some days there's no way to finish my orange juice gracefully.

Tremors occur unpredictably. The officials continue to predict that The Big One will occur Any Day Now, and it will dwarf the previous Big Ones that yada yada yada.

They're probably right. After all, there's no reason for a country that suffers every other natural and unnatural disaster except for tsunamis, typhoons, and hurricanes to get away without its share of earthquakes.

Our nifty rift is not a source of joy for our neighbors. To the contrary - it's a wonderful reminder that we're all in this together. When we wiggle, they wiggle. There's no better way to prove that the Gulf of Eilat and the Gulf of Akaba are really one and the same.

Where do you want to go now?
