A time to act
A time to refrain from acting
- Ecclesiastes
King Solomon

We should not act a few days before the government is about to dismantle Amona or Gush Katif. That is too late. Nothing will be accomplished but headlines for the wrong people, and a victory for a bloodthirsty army that is trained to injure and maim civilians.

We can give our politicians no greater potch than by ignoring their call for action, and then by forgetting to vote for them. Those incompetents should not be granted continued power and publicity after neglecting their own job.

A leader must earn the right to ask for our respect and support. This can happen when he can honestly say, "I've done my job, I've earned your support, I've shown that I'm a good leader, and now I'm reaching out to you to help." Leaders who cannot make that statement should be replaced by others who can do the job.

It's worse: If we continue to tolerate leaders and politicians who violate their mandate, then the opposition may respond with demonstrations of their own. How long will we tolerate "leaders" who ask us to fight the Israeli security forces (and of course, we lose)? Will that help us resolve those issues by logic and intelligence?

At some point, this will inevitably lead to an escalation of the situation. The opposition will also demonstrate, and then we will be asked to fight them as well as the security forces. Will we stand a better chance of winning at that time? Should that be the issue? After all, when Jews fight Jews, there are no winners.

Shouldn't we change this lose-lose situation, in which we respond to one loss by creating another one? Shouldn't our elected officials be asked to do their jobs properly before asking us to make sacrifices?

Our problems have not ended. More tragedies are impending. The issues have already been announced in the press. However, the politicians and Rabbis are doing nothing about those issues at this time!

Again, our incompetent elected officials and Rabbis are about to allow the next travesty to be voted into law. They may then encourage the masses to violate it!

That's obnoxious, seditious, and wrong.

There's more. Those self-serving demonstrations do damage to Jews around the world.

The Russian news agency reported the government pogrom in Amona. Their readers are likely to conclude that there is nothing wrong with making a pogrom against Jews. After all, the Jews in Israel already made a pogrom against themselves. If Jews could make pogroms against Jews, then why can't the Russian authorities do it as well?

Do our leaders and politicians have the right to subject worldwide Jewry to this chillul Hashem? Are there no limits to the punishment that we must receive, in order to grant those incompetents some headlines?

Let's stop allowing ourselves to be the pawns of our ineffective and bungling leaders and politicians. There is another way. We can use our brains instead of our herd instinct. We can force our elected officials and leaders to help us win, instead of allowing them to ask us to respond to the losses that they inflicted on us.

We will win when our heads are used for intelligent action, rather than as drums for police nightsticks.

Where do you want to go now?
