New immigrants to Israel sometimes discover that the job, housing, and employment structure is very different from that in their home country.
Israel has developed its own way of allocating jobs. Those who need to hire a person for a particular position do not necessarily advertise in the newspapers or interview those with exciting resumes.
Of course, there are also classified advertisements. However, a different system is often used.
Jobs are often given to friends and acquaintances. Thus, somebody might ask another to work in his organization after their casual encounter in the army.
Although this system works well, it may rub against your Western sensitivities.
Instead of complaining about it, why not strive towards creating Israeli relationships in your home country and in Israel?
