Shame

Those in a higher office sometimes terminate their position in an unpleasant manner. This contrasts with their purpose for entering politics in the first place.

People in politics search for fame, posterity, and streets that will be named after them. On the other hand, many Israeli politicians end their career by being ousted - or with an attempt to oust them. They are either accused or indicted for misdoings or misdeeds. The opposition constantly searches for ways to show that senior politicians are unsatisfactory or deserve to be jailed. Sometimes they are successful.

Thus, politicians sometimes end their term in shame. Even if nothing is proved, a suspicion remains that the accusation has some validity or justification. Politicians rarely end their term of office as clean as when they entered. These accusations make it rare for an incumbent to enjoy a second term in office.

Sometimes, the opposition succeeds in its goal. The incumbent is sometimes besmirched so much that he is indeed removed from office. The story then repeats itself as the opposition tries to convince the foolish electorate that they will be more pure, trustworthy, and honest, and that they will show greater leadership.

It may be even more foolish for a people that depends upon miracles for its very survival to have any expectations from their elected officials.
