Purity

Israel has an aura of somehow being different from other places.

This is true, of course, and the holy nature of the country cannot be denied.

However, this holy nature does not always give the country an aura of respect. To the contrary, it sometimes makes demands that are not made of other countries.

The fact that Israel is perceived as a bastion of purity means that it very often suffers more than its enemies during its all-too-frequent attacks and wars.

When Israel defends itself, it is expected to make sacrifices in a pure manner. Indeed, the nations of the world would apparently be quite satisfied if the entire country would be sacrificed – in a pure manner. They would give it a moment of silence and appreciation after Israel has done what it "should" do.

It is thus perceived to be far more important for Israel to be pure and to sacrifice itself than to live or to be alive.

Israel does rise to this challenge successfully in order to maintain and demonstrate this aura of purity.

However, the more purity that is demonstrated, the more demands that are made. Israel can never come out ahead.
