


Although you wouldn't believe it from the title of this file, we are about to discuss civil disobedience. That's right. Civil disobedience in Hebrew is called merry, or meri ezrachi.
We sometimes show our distress or disapproval of governmental decisions by merry.
No, we didn't forget that some foreigners greet others on their holiday by using the same term. In that case, they are encouraging others to be merry. In our case, it's a reflection of our own uncivil and disobedient way of meri-making.
Actually, some Israelis are probably more meri than others. Perhaps it's a learned taste.
