Managing
Quality

This page is still under construction.

In the past, people used to avoid buying products that were made in Israel because, quite frankly, the quality was very poor. OK, let's be honest. It was junk.

Things have improved. Today, some Israeli products are good, while others are bad. In general, there's an improvement in the quality of the products, if only because Israel wants to attract a larger share of the world market.

Actually, this improvement might be a waste of time. The old saying was that if you build a better mousetrap then people will beat a path to your door. That adage implies that if your products are better than others, you'll make millions.

Well that is not necessarily true. It takes other factors in order to make millions, and you don't even require a good product.

Afrer all, the world is not built on quality. Various spacecraft have exploded, one of them killing an Israeli astronaut. That is not an indication of superior quality. Indeed, a later study of the remains of the space craft showed problems with the quality control.

Microsoft was not selected as a major software producer because of quality. Their products are not as good as those from Apple. Microsoft achieved its status because of superior marketing.

Politics is also not based on quality. Politicians do not necessarily negotiate well. Many politicians do not know how to solve local or international problems. The best people go into business. Politics is for those who require or prefer power or prestige, and it is based on unkept promises. It is questionable whether politicans always attain what they desire.

The issue of quality is thus not the controlling factor in many areas of life. Those old adages may be wrong in today's economy.

Where do you want to go now?
