There is no limit to how bad things can get. - Hane's Law |
This series of articles began a number of years ago.
I was reading The Bridge, a magazine published by PNAI: the Parents of North American Olim. The lead article summarized an address to the PNAI National Convention, about "The Religious-Secular Conflict in Israel". While I will not argue or dispute the basic facts, the faulty emphasis could lead the reader to feel that an actual, real conflict, rooted in the nineteenth century, is plaguing the country.
The lecturer called for action, indicating that "he doesn't know where to start, only that we must start to find solutions." That certainly does seem to indicate a sense of urgency.
Perhaps a quieter, more rational approach should be considered. After all, this is not the first pseudo-sociological treatise or lecture from an outsider about Israel's problems, declaring the State's certain path towards its inevitable and imminent downfall, doom, and demise.
However, a rational, sensible tone would not excite people enough for a major address in a conference. The speaker certainly advanced his career by his rabble-rousing.
At Israel's expense, of course.
