Let's face it. You don't know the language. Sorry.
OK, so this website is not known for its tact. Perhaps that opener should have been phrased differently so that you wouldn't be hurt by the facts. Feel free to do so.
You may also be upset because you can get your ideas across in Hebrew. Your Yeshiva background, your hands, and your great imagination usually help you make your point. You manage to communicate with the Israeli guest at your local Jewish Community Center's Israel Recognition Evening.
You've also been able to get help by using your broken Yiddish. True, Yiddish is not the national language. It isnt used more than in the United States, except in select circles. However, it does help if you're talking to the right people.
You may even know another language. As a matter of fact, any language capability will serve you well. Israel is a multi-lingual country, and the more languages that you know, the more you can feel comfortable with additional segments of the population.
So, it's nice to know that you are familiar with various languages. However, you don't know Hebrew. You won't know it until you've lived it. You won't feel its flavor until you dream and count in Hebrew.
Sorry.
