You better cut the pizza Air conditioners used to be rare in Israel. Some public buildings had weak air conditioners, but private houses relied on fresh air.
Things have changed. Now, many institutions, private homes, and vehicles are have discovered that it's hot out there. Even outdoor wedding "halls" are now covered with PVC, and the guests enjoy the advantages of being outdoors. They cool off before the spouse steps up the heat. In other words, some Israelis have their wedding cake and eat it too.
Israeli air conditioners look different from some of those that are available abroad.
One unit is installed inside the house and a second (ugly) unit is placed on the roof or wall, or in a garden. Both units have the same function. The interior unit keeps you cool, and the exterior unit (which has a few extra parts) makes noise.
Most of these air conditioners can be used for both heating and cooling. Their unaesthetic hoses dangle outside of buildings in order to bring the air to you.
Although they look different from your air conditioners "back home," those functional and philosophical differences may show a superiority in Israeli air conditioners.
But isn't that what you've come to expect with most things that you've come across in Israel?
