You may choose to bring packages to people in Israel. This may cost less than buying gifts, unless you have to pay for large or heavy luggage. Sometimes these packages are welcomed more than a gift that you select because they contain precisely what is needed. People sometimes keep these gifts in a house and wait for somebody like you to bring them to Israel.
The recipient and the people you stay with in Israel may ask you to bring back a package or some snail mail.
The favor would be appreciated most if you drop off the mail immediately - as soon as you arrive at your destination. After all, they did not give you the mail in order to save on the postage. The difference between the overseas cost and the cost abroad is trivial, unless you bring a very large box of wedding invitations or business promotional material. People usually gave you the mail simply to speed the service.
Today, it's bad enough to have to send snail mail. However, when that is necessary, please cooperate by getting it off as fast as possible.
