What to Bring

Some things are not available in Israel, at any price. The recipient may have a craving for those items (they are frequently food items).

If it requires refrigeration, then please clarify in advance whether the airline is prepared to provide this service. You certainly don't want to bring spoiled food.

Do ask the recipient what they want. Surprises are not always welcome. Level with them - say that you would like to bring something. Explain your constraint regarding space or price. If it's an expensive item, do ask them whether they are willing to pay. Clarify whether they will be willing to pay the added cost of the item for domestic shipping, overweight luggage, or customs.

As the next stage, let them suggest what they need. In the best case scenario, the recipient may be able to clarify the exact model number, make, size, color, and store that has the product that you need. If not, then they may be able to research the product in order to give you an exact response. They should also give at least one alternative, in case the item they want is not in stock. This procedure is much better than having you decide for them based on your own taste and desires.

In any case, if you cannot buy the exact model that's requested, please be in touch with the recipient before substituting a different model.

If the product needs to be declared at the airport, then bring the sales receipt and a printout of the Internet page with the information, or a copy of the catalogue page that includes the model and the price.
