Should you come to Israel when you are younger or when you are older?

This question is part of larger issues:

These issues conflict with each other.

If your goal is to make money, then stay in an affluent Western country. You will then be able to come to Israel when you are older and buy a fine apartment or house in the location of your choice. You will be able to live in Israeli luxury for your remaining days.

On the other hand, if you retire in Israel, then you can't really benefit from the country. You will have chosen to benefit from the many things that the Diaspora has to offer rather than the things that Israel has to offer.

That's okay. That's fine. There's no problem with it. Your choice is perfectly acceptable. However, do realize that you can't have your cake and eat it too. You have to choose either one or the other.

If you choose to come to Israel when you are young then you will make less money. However, you will benefit from the things that Israel offers, and you will be young enough to enjoy them and to benefit from them.

Furthermore, some people will do better in pursuing their non-financial goals in Israel. They will be able to make their mark and to find their niche in Israel.

Since Israel is limited in its range of establishments, firms, companies, areas of investments, businesses, and places of work, you can have the personal satisfaction of establishing something that Israel does not yet have. You will not simply be another cog in the wheel, as may be the case in the United States. Instead you will be somebody important.

You will have to decide how much that feeling of satisfaction is worth to you. It it worth sacrificing the money that you would make in the Diaspora in order to have the joys and benefits that Israel offers?

Although this is not an easy decision, it might be easier for you to make the decision now that you see the differences more clearly.

Most important be happy with the decision that you do make. Choose one way of life and stick with it. Don't try to have your cake and eat it too. Don't try to try it out in one place and then to try it out in the other. You will be a very unhappy person if you do.

Granted, there are some people who live in Israel and work abroad in order to be able to gain the benefits of both worlds. If that suits your personality then go ahead and do it. Keep in mind, however, that this option does take a toll on your family, life, and stability.

Where do you want to go now?
