You probably want to know how I have the gall and the audacity to write an entire website about Israel.

It's a legitimate question. Let's start off by answering the Jewish way - with some other questions.

• Would you prefer to read stuff by a boring historian?
• Do you believe the stuff written by journalists?
• Do you think the politicians know what's going on in Israel?
• Does the general press give Israel honest treatment?
• Are you prepared to write a website about Israel?

I also checked out those alternatives, and realized that there's nobody left to write this website. I then considered my own qualifications:

• I have a great deal of chutzpah
• I've lived in Israel for a long time
• I made aliyah with my small family, many years ago
• I was involved in various Aliyah organizations
• I was president of a major Aliyah organization
• I was involved in various Zionist organizations. Yes, there's a difference
• I've spoken to groups about Aliyah
• I've told certain people that they should not make Aliyah
• I edited a journal about Aliyah
• I've written and published many articles about Aliyah and Israel
• I run many online e-mail forums about Israel
• I've spoken and written to many people who have made or who wanted to make Aliyah

Does my chutzpah make me the best person to write this website?

Not necessarily, but the best person doesn't run the country either.
