


You may do everything that is recommended in this website in order to maintain your computer, but problems will happen. Obviously, the best thing to do is to create regular backups. When that problem occurs (and, yes, the question is "when", not "if") you will be able to continue your work without losing your valuable data.
That data is worth more than the computer itself. You want to be prepared to continue working even though the computer is faulty.
A serious computer user will have another computer available as a spare in order to continue working without a break.
Computers are not expensive. A second computer is a wise investment.
You have various possibilities. If space is a more important consideration than money, then get a laptop. If you have room to spare, then get a desktop.
Both computers should be maintained in the same way so that they are identical. They should have similar programs. The data should be synchronized or backed up at the end of each day. If both computers have identical data and you also have CD backups, then you can feel secure. Store your CDs in a separate location so that they cannot be damaged in the event of a natural disaster such as a fire.
