If you really want to work with your computer, then you need peace of mind. Thus, if you are always concerned that something may go wrong, then your efficiency is reduced by a great deal.
You bought a computer in order to increase your productivity. If at the same time you increase your tension level, when your purchase may not have the desired results. You need to relax and to think about your work in order to improve your efficiency.
A spare computer gives you that peace of mind. It lets you concentrate on your work. You know that your computer may indeed need repair but you can continue just as before with your spare computer.
This is one of the psychological aspects of using a computer.
