What should be done when there is too much text or not enough text to fill the alloted space?

Here you will have to use some judgment.

• Do you have another article that is closer to the proper length?
• Are both articles that are to be exchanged of equal importance?
• Can you exchange the location of this article for the other one?

If one article is too lengthy, you have several options:

• Can you edit out some material so that it will fit?
• Can part of the article be shifted to the next issue of the newsletter?

Is the article too short?

• Expand it by splitting some of the paragraphs. Each new paragraph will take up one or more new lines.
• Add subtitles.
• If the program does not have a style format for subtitles, then create short lines with bold or bold italic typeface.
• Increase the type size by a few points.
