Here you'll find some reactions to our first meeting, which was held in the house of Agrippina's parentes in Velp (Arnhem). It was a quite cold day to make such a trip, but three hours drive later we
arrived at the Domus of our host Agrippina Iulia Germanica. A warm welcome awaited us, and a nice piece of cake ;-). Marcellus Decianus and I were very occupied discussing the hot topics in Nova Roma politics, and gathering ideas about what to do to promote our provincia. Agrippina and Claudia meanwhile prepared a terrific Cena. Also the Religio Romana was a discussion topic, there seem to be very little organizations overhere that

focus on this religion. There are of course some wiccan communities and others who focus on asatru, but religio romana is a religion that is practiced merely at home. Some rituals should break through this unpleasant situation and contacts with other pagan groups can promote our beliefs, we hope.

The meal itself was not only terrific in its taste, but it stimulated friendship as well. Since Agrippina had given the slaves a day off, we had to do the dishes ourselves, unfortunately. After a warm smalltalk with the familia of our host, we were surprised with the late hour. We decided to drive back nevertheless, but the snow made it a bit difficult. Fortunately,
Agrippina's parents proposed to show us the way, and once on the road we were at home sooner than expected. What remains is the warm friendship, and the certainty that this meeting was just a beginning: we are thinking of a meeting-weekend, which creates more possibilities of course!

I'd like to start by saying that the provincial meeting of 29-12-2001 was a
long cherrished dream of mine. Unfortunately, a meeting scheduled earlier in 2001 was cancelled but on the 29th of December it was finally there! The first meeting for the region of Germania Inferior! Needless to say I was very anxious to meet my fellow Romans.

And, no suprise really, I found them to be nice and gentle people. Just what one would expect by hearing the word "Roman". We gethered at the Domus of Agrippina Iulia Germanica who not only excelled as a most gracious host, but, with the friendly help of the Claudia Cornelia Puteana, als as a excellent chef. Gratias maximas for the lovely cena my dear ladies:-)! I didn't notice Agrippina had given the servi a day off for a minute.

Not only the cena was of good Roman quality, but also the conversation. I believe there isn't a topic you and I haven't dicussed, isn't it, mi Cai? And please, make no mistake whomever reads this: discussing topics wans't just a guy thing. Not at all because Agrippina and Claudia fended themselve real nice.

Yes, I think I speak the truth when I say this meeting was worth the waite. It had everything. A good host, good conversation with decent people, delicious dinner and as a very nice extra, a meeting with agrippina's parentes et soror, who were ever so nice.

What can I say??? Why...hmmm...oh yeah: let's do it again:-)!

Also for me this meeting was unforgetable! I already liked Nova Roma, but this meeting was a real boost for my activities within it. I thought it was great to finally meet the people you've been mailing with for a while. And we got the chance to really get to know eachother and become real friends. It may sound strange, because we only spend one afternoon together, but yet, the friendship was, and still is, there.

Before we left, I was a little bit afraid, because I had promised Agrippina to help her with the Cena, but in fact, I had never cooked such a big Roman meal before. But also this was splendid. We had a great time being in the kitchen together and I learned a lot from her. If anyone is interested in the recepies of the things we prepared, don't hesitate to contact me, and I'll be glad to give them to you.

We're certainly going to do this again and would be really great if there would be some new people too next time. Don't think about it, just write yourself in and come and see for yourself how great it is to be a citizen of Nova Roma and Germania Inferior.
