One thousand years ago, superstition and the sword ruled.
It was a time of darkness. It was a world of fear.
It was the age of gargoyles.
Stone by day, warriors by night,
we were betrayed by the humans we had sworn to protect,
frozen in stone by a magic spell for a thousand years.
Now, here in Manhattan, the spell is broken, and we live again!
We are defenders of the night!
We are GARGOYLES!
There is a character called goliath in the show that will say that before each episode starts in the show. That does pretty much sum it up though...The gargoyles once lived in the middle ages and they had sworn to protect a castle, wyvern castle i think. Suddenly gargoyles werent great heroes in the residents eyes anymore, and trouble started to stir up. The gargoyles had but one friend left. The one friend Goliath (one of the mian characters) thought he could trust betrayed everyone to the vikings, and because of it almost the entire clan of gargoyles was destroyed during the day. Someone got mad at the remaining gargoyles and cast a magic spell on them that doomed them to be frozen in stone for a looooong time. Normally gargoyles would turn to stone during day, and turn back into gargoyles at night, but obviously the spell made them stone day and night. 1000 years later somehow (not tellin how :p) the spell got broken and now the gargoyles are alive in modern day manhattan and protect the city from whatever villains may threaten, though they found this new modern world with modern weapons would take some time to get used to.
