I think that it is time to put some
of these ramblings together. While there are as many gregarious names and
methods of invocation as there are schools of magick, for right now the
names used in these invocations are not nearly as important as the actual
formula of the ritual. The L.B.R.P.
serves two purposes; firstly it is used to center ones consciousness with
the cosmos, secondly it is used to clear your work place (The magick circle.)
and yourself of all negative energy. Believe it or not 90 percent of the
time it is not something from the outside that needs to be repelled, it
is our inner daemons that need to be exorcised. As humans most of us just
aren’t that centered yet. The L.B.R.P.
serves as a way to center and cleanse the Spirit so that it might more
easily find its way along the great path of initiation. How does that song
go? Free your mind and your body will follow; those are wise words indeed.
You will notice that in the examples that I give when calling the corners
I use four of the many Hebrew names of God. This is due to my studies in
the Kabbalah, this is not set in stone as it were, and you should call
the Guardians by whatever names you feel comfortable with. Keep in mind
though that what you are doing when calling the corners is creating a temple
of sorts on the material plane, and any temple should be treated with reverence
and respect. Having said that, whatever names you should give the Guardians,
remember that one does not merely speak the words, one vibrates them. Meaning
that your vocal intonation must match your intent, and above all else you
must wholeheartedly believe in your intent, for the magick to have any
effect on the material plane. With these thoughts in mind I give you the:
the most sense to "catch the wave"
as it were at its source. The ancient Asian art of Feng Shuie is based
on this fact, as are many other ancient esoteric traditions. This is not
however set in stone, for example most pagans orient their altars toward
the north. Each individual must find the method that he/she is most comfortable
with. Anyway you have your brain, a comfortable chair, a candle and a darkened
room. Light the candle (Candle color at this point does not matter.) and
sit facing it, next what we are going to do is calm your mind and your
body by what is called rhythmic breathing. If you sit quietly enough you
will notice that you can feel your heartbeat. First focus on the flame
of the candle until there is nothing else in your mind but that. Then take
a deep breath and exhale it completely. While your lungs are totally empty
count four heart beats, then inhale for four heartbeats, hold the air in
your lungs for four heartbeats, then exhale again for a count of four.
Repeat this process for as long as you can (It can be difficult to sustain
at first.) and you will feel your body begin to relax and your mind will
more easily focus on nothing but the candle. After you feel completely
calm and at peace, close your eyes and mentally rise out of your body.
While standing with your back toward your physical body and keeping your
feet firmly planted on the floor, rise through your ceiling, through the
roof of the house that you live in. Rise to the point that you can see
your house, the surrounding houses and the streets below you. Rise to the
point where the cars look very small beneath you. Now rise so high that
you can see what the state that you live in looks like, so high that you
can see the curvature of the Mother Earth. As you look up you will see
the Moon, rise past it. Rise past the other planets in our solar system.
Visualize above you a great ball of brightly glowing white light. Chase
this light. As you chase the light you will see galaxies, planets and stars
go past you. Chase the light to the point that you can actually reach up
and put your hand in its phosphorescent brilliance. Draw down the light
with your hand and touch your forehead. Now send this light through your
immense body down through your feet, (Which are still planted on the earth.)
send the light through the earth and on to infinity in that direction.
With your right arm point straight out to your side and send the light
on to infinity in that direction. With your left arm point straight out
to your side and send the light on to infinity in that direction. What
you have done is center your very essence with the universe. Now shrink
back to your normal size and re-enter your physical body. Now that you
are centered you are ready to go on to the next step in the ritual. This
first part or the lesser banishing ritual of the pentagram should be practiced
to the point that you are able to astrally project and center yourself
at will. Needless to say depending on the individual this could take weeks,
months or years. The art of visualization is the most important part of
all magick. Even in real life if you can see it in your mind’s eye, you
can make it happen. This same theory is applied to the ancient arts. In
Kabalistic terms, whatever one can visualize in the sphere of formation
will manifest, on the material plane. Hence Crowley’s definition of Magick,
The art or science, of causing change in conformity, with the will. Or
willing it to happen. Once you are proficient with the art of centering
yourself, it will be time to actually call the corners. To do this you
will need enough room to create a circle of at least six feet in diameter.
(Although a circle of nine feet is mathematically and kabbalisticly preferred.)
I like to mark the quarters (Directions E, S, W, N.) with candles of the
appropriate colors, yellow for the east, red for the south, blue for the
west and black for the north. Sit in a comfortable position in the center
of your circle, (The lotus position seems to work extremely well for this.)
and perform the rhythmic breathing and the centering exercise. Once you
have centered yourself, go to the eastern quarter of the circle and draw
a pentagram using the same method that a child would to draw a star i.e.:

Visualize the five-pointed star
as flaming blue the same color as the fire of a gas stove. Point to the
center of the pentagram and vibrate the name,
, or
YHWH. (I am not going to give the English pronunciation of this word as
it is the most sacred of all the names of God, and as such it must be learned
by the individual. See the word Tetragrammaton for further insight into
this name.) Once you vibrate the name you will see the pentagram flame
up, and glow brilliantly. Over the pentagram now trace the sigil of the
Archangel
Raphael, as you trace the sigil vibrate his
name. (See the Raphael document and Sigilum Angelica.) Carry this point
south, draw another flaming blue pentagram and vibrate the name Adoni
(AH-Doh-nay.) this is Hebrew for Lord. Upon
this pentagram trace the sigil of the Archangel
Michael. (Again vibrate his name as you trace
the sigil, do this for all of the quarters.) Carry this point west, draw
another flaming blue pentagram, point to the center and vibrate the name
Ehieh
(Eh-hi-eh.) This is Hebrew for I am, and is
the name of God given to Moses at the burning bush. Upon this pentagram
trace the sigil and vibrate the name of the Archangel
Gabriel. Carry this point north and draw another
flaming blue pentagram, point to the center and vibrate the name AGLA
(Ah-Gl-Ah.) This name is an acronym in Hebrew
for the sentence, Ah-tah Gee-bor-ah Lay-oh-lam
Ah-doh-nay. Or thou art great forever my Lord,
and is from a Hebrew prayer. Upon this pentagram trace and vibrate the
sigil of the Archangel Uriel.
Complete the circle by carrying the point back to the east. Return to the
center of your circle (Always traveling in a clockwise or sun-wise motion.)
face east and say before me Raphael,
(Use the visualizations in the Guardians documents as you vibrate the names
of these angels.) Behind me Gabriel,
at my right hand Michael,
and at my left hand Uriel.
About me flame the pentagrams, and within me shines the six rayed star.
(The second Chakra, the Star of David.) Ah-tah
Mal-kooth Veh-geh-bor-ah Veh-geh-du-lah Lay-oh-lam Ah-men.Or
Thou art the foundation, the power, and the glory forever amen. Sit in
the center of your circle and visualize the flaming blue pentagrams and
the four Archangels, feel the invoked power as all negativity within yourself
and your circle seems to vanish. Stay as long as you like in your newly
created temple. To close the circle thank YHWH and the Archangels for their
assistance in helping you center yourself and for taking all negativity from
you. Then you must first give what is called the "license to depart". This is were you give permission to all entities go back to their realms'. Stand in the center of your circle and say something to the effect of, "I now release all beings that have been summoned by the creation of this sacred circle, return from whence ye came, harm none on your way, and be ye ready lest ye be summoned again. Go in the name of he whom nature hath not formed." Now you must "reverse- circumambulate", or starting again in the east move around the circle in a counter clockwise motion, drawing the energy back into your body. When you have traversed the circle counter sunwise and drawn all the energy back into your body, it is then done. When you leave the circle, you will probably be hungry, as you have just released a lot of energy, Eat something and reflect.....
