We the GSE Team are gearing up to spread the message of international understanding, goodwill, love, and peace.

The Rotary Foundation’s Group Study Exchange (GSE) program is a unique cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for businesspeople and professionals between the ages of 25 and 40 who are in the early stages of their careers. The program provides travel grants for teams to exchange visits in paired areas of different countries. For four to six weeks, team members experience the host country's culture and institutions, observe how their vocations are practiced abroad, develop personal and professional relationships, and exchange ideas.

In a typical four-week tour, applicants participate in five full days of vocational visits, 15 to 20 club presentations, 10 to 15 formal visits and social events, two to three days at the district conference, three to four hours per day of cultural and site tours, and three to four hours per day of free time with host families.

"God created the world. The Dutch created the Netherlands"

Jader Thorminn, Group Leader of the Brasilian GSE team 2008 who visited  District 1590

From the outset the Dutch have been faced with the hard facts that only through their own efforts would they be able to master the challenges which nature has put in their path.
A large part of their territory is below sea level.
The country is poor in natural resources and must guarantee a high standard of development for its 16 (sixteen) million inhabitants in an area of more or less 42.000 square kilometers.

This places the Netherlands as one of the most densely populated countries in the world. Development with sustainability is the dogma of the Dutch people. The Netherlands seeks its way in that which was granted to it by nature. Making the best of their strategic geographical position the Dutch have become excellent global merchants, making Rotterdam an all powerful logistic center which supplies Europe with products from all over the world. The country has moved from the condition of being very minute to that of sovereignty of the seas in the search for new frontiers.
They went to Turkey to bring home the tulip and transformed it into a source of wealth which is very important for the country.
From Brazil they obtained sugar, which the Portuguese produced and they, the Dutch, refined and distributed all over Europe, aggregating value while keeping the greater part of the profits within the country.
From India and the Caribbean came the condiments.

. Of everything we saw in this country, the vision remains of a people who make things happen, who reinvent themselves every day, who are lords of their destiny.
