| A Grand Champion drastically repositioned to this wonderful mustang paint mare. Looking a little chubby eh? That is because she is feeding two! Yessums, she is a pregnant one. Take a look at her and tell me what you think! | |||||||||||||||||||||
After two months of planning, carving, sculpting, sanding, priming, painting, hairing, touchups and sealer... She is finished. Thanks to my friend Josie for helping me come up with ideas, and letting me how Lily was coming along :) Always nice to have someone there to tell you the truth about your work.

The process: She originally came to me with a bad hair day, so I removed her hair. I also was thinking of how everyone wanted a prengant horse...because honestly, where are all these foals coming from? :) lol. So after removing hair and planting a thick wire for her future tail I moved into lowering and resculpting her neck, adding belly, filling in the holes that are normally on the inside of their legs, and adding more jaw muscle. Only a week ago did I have her sanded, smoothed, and ready for her two coats of primer.

I have always LOVED paints (which is why I own one :) ), so I decided to make her one. Through airbrush I painted her a lovely dark bay pinto and mapped every white area on her body for a more realistic look. Her blue eyes add that special touch that makes you love her. Then I glued in her mohair mane and tail..which originally went down to like her hocks...but my father gave me some advice and said it looked fake...and I took it. Although it was neat...I cut it a bit and it made her look so much more like a mustang I loved it! Sealed with a matte finish and ready for a loving home. There is something about my customs that I can never keep them no matter how beautiful they are, I love to share them with everyone.

A word about mohair- mohair is extremely delicate and while securely glued in, with rough handling or a lot of brushing it does fall out. So as a general rule it should be for looks only. Although it is a pain to put on a cm, I choose to because it adds realism to the piece. :) As long as you are just wanting a wonderful horse to add to a beloved collection...this one is for you!! I will rehair any horse in the future if need be...just e-mail me! :) I won't be out of the custom business...ever! I love it too much.
