Baby Megan was having dinner one summer night in July of 1991 at home. As all small children often do, Megan began to play with her food and be messy. Megan's step father, Jesse James Schober became upset and struck the baby in the head. This would prompt an argument with Megan's biological mom, Vicki Anne Schober.
Vicki would take the baby into the bathroom shortly thereafter to give her a bath. The baby would begin to splash water as she played in the tub. This sparked another outrage according to accounts Vicki would later give police. Jesse, Megan's step father came into the bathroom and attacked the baby again, slamming her head into the side of the ceramic bath tub. This blow to the head rendered the baby unconscious. According to later reports, the baby lay unconscious for several days in it's room before she died.

Nobody was notified, and it was if nothing ever happened until in 2002 when Megan's grandmother inquired about what ever happened to her granddaughter. She was by Vicki that Megan had died in a car accident several years back. When the grandmother began to look for burial records, there was nothing to support her daughter's claim. She took her suspicions to the police. There would be a full investigation launched into what happened to Megan Pratt.

It was found that the baby did not die in a car accident as Vicki had told her mother previously. Vicki admitted that her husband and killed the baby and then dug a hole on the property where they lived at the time, placed the baby wrapped in a sleeping bag, and then set her on fire. Vicki would keep this horrible secret of what happened to her own child.

Vicki would later be charged for her involvement in the baby's death. As part of her deal with prosecutors, Vicki Grossberndt pleaded no contest to aggravated child abuse and was sentenced to six years in prison. Jesse James Scober confessed to the baby's murder and told them of the location he had buried her. An extensive excavation began, but Megan was not found.

Jesse Scober will likely serve no more than 15 years for his role in the baby's death. Friends and family still wonder what happened to Megan and if her remains will ever be found and buried in a humane way. May this child rest in eternal peace
