Little pieces of the paper floated to the ground as Ginny watched, her mouth open and eyes wide. Draco Malfoy had just torn up her Transfiguration paper, the one she had worked on for almost five hours, laboring to get it just right because Professor McGonagall had hinted that she would base most of their grade on it at the end of the year.

Ignoring the guffawing crowd that had quickly gathered around them, composed mostly of fifth and sixth year Slytherins, she stepped forward, pulled back her arm, and punched Malfoy in the gut. She was so angry, magic wasn't good enough for him, it wouldn't make him suffer enough. She silently thanked Charlie and Bill for taking her aside before she left for Hogwarts and teaching her to punch, most especially not to tuck in the thumb, as that was a sure way to break your hand.

Malfoy doubled over, gasping for breath, and whispered, "You'll pay for this! You and your Muggle-loving family! My father--"

"Your father," Ginny said harshly, restraining herself from giving him a kick in the side, "is in Azkaban."

At that, Malfoy jerked up and raised his wand, opening his mouth to no doubt utter a curse. Just before the words left his mouth, however, a hand came out of the crowd and grabbed Malfoy's wand arm, pulling it down. "I wouldn't do that, Malfoy."

"Why not, Zabini?" Malfoy sneered at his housemate.

"Because McGonagall's coming this way," the dark-haired boy said, appearing beside Malfoy. "And I very much doubt she would take kindly to you attacking her student."

Malfoy sneered again, but backed off, followed by Parkinson, Bulstrode, Crabbe, Goyle, and the rest of the crowd. Ginny watched them, her brows raised.

"Are you all right?" Blaise asked when the crowd had mostly dissipated, heading to their classes.

Ginny nodded. "Yeah, but Malfoy tore up my Transfiguration homework."

Blaise flinched. "Sorry I didn't get here fast enough."

"It's all right," Ginny smiled at him and walked over, pecking him on the cheek.

"That's all I get?" he asked, a brow raised. "He could have been planning to give you buck teeth, or make you burp slugs, or..."

Ginny slapped him on the arm. "Very funny, Blaise." She reached up, giving him a much longer, more involved kiss. When she finally pulled away, they were both nearly breathless. "How was that?" she whispered.

Blaise grinned. "I think we need to try it again."
