A Sunday Walk

Well, it could be worse, I suppose. This wouldn’t be so bad, but Mom wants us to walk to Nana’s. She said it was such a nice day and the sun would be good for us both. Guess I shouldn’t complain so much about wanting to go out and play.

Oh, well. How do I look? I hope this hat doesn’t make me look too awful goofy. Mom says I have to wear it to keep from getting a sunburn. The purse is for carrying my money in. I know, it’s silly for a boy to have a purse, but this dress doesn’t have any pockets, so I have to carry it. At least my new sandals fit … I’m just not crazy about the high heels.

Look, don’t tell Mom, but … well, I guess I really don’t hate playing "dress up" as much as I thought I did. I just don’t like being teased about it from the guys. It’s not so bad when it’s just me and Mom and Nana. Sometimes we even have fun, like the time we went to that really big doll shop on the other side of town and Nana bought me my first Barbie ….

Oops, I better go. Mom’s hollering for me and I don’t want to make her mad. She said something about going to the beach and I don’t want to end up wearing something really embarrassing …!
