The Reluctant Princess

Mom said she'd give me double my allowance if I quit pouting and smile for the rest of the day. I dunno. As silly as I look and as weird as I feel, I don't know if I can keep it up.

But for an increase in my allowance … well, I can at least try!

I guess going to the party won't be so bad after all. I don't think anyone is going to really recognize me as long as I cling to my mother's skirt. She kind of likes me doing that anyway, so it wouldn't hurt to give it a try.

Funny, the more I smile, the more people seem to smile back at me. I better be careful. I don't want to attract too much attention to myself. Especially dressed like this.

Great. Now Mom wants me to meet one of her friends. Oh, gosh … it looks like she's got a teenaged boy with her. He's giving me an awful funny look. Now what am I going to do …?
