Chapter 1

Chloe hesitantly blinked her eyes open. Her head was throbbing intensely, and her wrists seemed to feel rather odd. Finally mustering the strength to force her eyes to stay open, Chloe watched with confusion as the beautiful country landscape quickly rolled by in the dark.

With great care, she turned her head to the left, and that was when everything came flooding back to her. It took but a single glance at Philip to remind Chloe of the events from earlier that evening. And, the more Chloe recollected Philips brash treatment, the more angry she became.

Ignoring the pain in her head, Chloe hissed angrily, Youre insane! As soon as Craig and Nancy come home, theyre going to call the police. And, we both know what that means. Ill be rescued, and youll be arrested.

Philip kept his gaze focused on the road as he answered nonchalantly, Nah, I dont think so.

Philip! You kidnapped me!

In an almost mocking manner, Philip replied, Chloe. You made me.

Chloes temper was quite evident by the growing anger that flickered in her eyes. Lifting her wrists to display the way they were bound together, Chloe furiously rebuffed, No one, not even me, made you tie me up like some animal! You really have lost your mind!

No, Chloe I havent. And, I have a feeling that it wont be long before you see things my way.

Philips mysterious words cast a sense of fear of Chloe. Rather hesitantly, she asked, What are you going to do to me?

Keeping his eyes on the road as he searched for his turn, Philip distractedly asked, What do you mean?

I mean, are you going to hurt me? Youve already beaten me and tied me up. For Gods sake, Philip, whats next? Are you just going to slash my throat and leave my dead body on the side of the road? Growing almost hysterical, Chloe questioned, Well? Is that what youre going to do?

Ah, Chloe, I would never really hurt you, insisted Philip as he carefully guided the car over to the side of the road. Turning off the vehicle, he looked at Chloe with tender eyes and pleaded, Please, Chloe, you have to believe that I would never intentionally cause you pain.

A mist of tears covered Chloes eyes as she replied vehemently, Youre living. If you had never wanted to hurt me, you wouldnt have abandoned me after the Last Blast, would you?

I made a mistake . . .

No, Philip, I was the one that made a mistake. I was foolish enough to believe that I could actually be normal and be truly loved by someone popular and well-liked. I was blind to the fact that a person like me just cant fit in with people like you. I was actually stupid enough to believe that you and I might have shared something real and genuine.

Philip placed one of his hands atop Chloes wrists to prevent any possible movement while using his other hand to gently stroke her enraged and tormented face. Barely above a whisper, he said, We did share something real - we still do. Youll see that, Chloe.

The gentle words that Philip spoke almost began to wear away some of the icy exterior of Chloes guarded heart. However, her inner bitterness and pain quickly regained control. Jerking her face back from Philips hand as best she could, Chloe cruelly said, You are a demented psycho! Have you even considered whats going to happen when this little stunt is over? Honestly, Philip, you really are a fool if you believe that you wont be punished.

For a moment, Philip almost lost his cool. He almost allowed his innate temper to take control of the situation. However, after taking a few seconds to simply gaze out his window into the dark night, Philip was able to regain his composure.

When he turned to look at Chloe once more, Philip surprised the diva with his calm demeanor. This little vacation was something that had to be done. You and I have both lost sight of the love that we share. Youve become so absorbed in hating me that you cant even remember the love. And, Ill admit it, I became so obsessed with keeping you to myself, that I forgot that your independence was one of the things I fell in love with.

For just a few seconds, Philip believed that he had penetrated Chloe icy exterior. However, the same cold glare filled her eyes as she replied, You really are a demented bastard. I am actually looking forward to seeing you rot in jail.

Starting up the car once more, Philip practically smirked as he said aloud, Youll be changing your tune soon enough. Id be willing to bet on it.

After a few minutes of silence had filled the car, Chloe quietly asked, Why did you really do this, Philip? What could you possibly have hoped to gain?

Rather nervously, Philip gripped the steering wheel just a little tighter and replied, When we get to where were going, Ill explain everything. I promise.

Like your promises mean anything to me, huffed Chloe.

This time, Philip was unable to completely control that infamous temper of his. He snidely questioned, And, what? Bradys promises do mean something?

Chloe tossed Philip an uncaring glare and curtly answered, Yes, they do.

Whatever, rebuffed Philip almost childishly. He knew that he only had one chance to make Chloe see that she really loved him. And, there was no way that bringing Brady into the conversation would help matters.

Silence filled the car as Philip and Chloe both lost themselves in their thoughts as miles and miles of dark country road flew past. They were both victims of unsureness.

As had been the case on so many occasions, Chloe wasnt quite sure how she should feel. Her mind told her that she should be infuriated. After all, Philip had knocked her unconscious and stolen her away from her own home. However, some part of her heart could not help but recall just how wonderful Philip Kiriakis could be. And, that small part refused to allow Chloe to hate her first love.

Philip kept his stoic gaze focused on the road ahead of him, but his mind wondered to places - and times - that were not quite so near. The more he remembered the love he had shared with Chloe, the more he thought about what they could have in the future. And, that led him to feel uncertain about his own actions. Should he go through with his plan and keep Chloe at the cabin for seven days. Or, should he just let her go home.

Immediately discarding the latter thought, Philip decided that keeping Chloe with him was really his only option. It was the only chance he had at reawakening the feelings that he had once stirred so passionately within Chloe.

And, there was nothing that Philip wouldnt do for Chloe - including kidnapping and risking time in jail.
