Jersey emerged
victorious in the latest round of the European GAA League last
weekend, beating Guernsey 3-11 to 1-06 in the final. Both clubs had
two teams involved in the league along with Brest, and The Hague and
Rennes, who joined forces to enter a combined team. Each team played
five matches and, with Jersey 'A' and Guernsey 'A' unbeaten after
their first four games, the last league game involving them both was
deemed the final.
As expected, it turned out to be a hard-fought but entertaining
game. The sides were level at half-time 1-04 to 2-01 but in the
second half, Jersey took control and deserved their victory.
Meanwhile, last weekend also saw a ten-a-side hurling exhibition
involving Jersey and a European representative team. Despite the
fact that Jersey proved too strong for the struggling Europeans, it
was a competitive game but Jersey ran out easy winners with a 5-17
to 1-10 victory.
