Round 3 Results & Upcoming Fixures: All matches in the latest
Round of the European GAA League were played this weekend on Cricket
fields in Guernsey.
The teams participating were The Hague, Brest,
Renne, while Jersey and Guernsey had two teams each.
Played as one
league, every team had fivegames. The Hague & Rennes combined to form
one team. Jersey A had six London Juniors playing for the team and it
wasfelt Guernsey 'A' would give them a good game therefore this was set up
to be the last game.
As both teams went into that game unbeaten,
this game was made the final. The final-score does not reflect the
closeness of the encounter, as it was level at half time. The Jersey
goalkeeper was outstanding in the second half making six point blank
saves, two of which led to a counter-attack which produced scores at the
other end.
Guernsey 'A' 1-4 Jersey 'A' 2-1.
It was a
hard-fought entertaining final watched by about 150 people. The weather
was superb.
On Sunday 6th May a Hurling match-exhibition featured
Europe v Jersey (10 a side), and although the European team struggled
against a fresh Jersey side, it was however very competitive and watched
by about 70 people. It was sponsored by Simply Ireland, a local
restaurant.
