MS "Hakefjord" from Skärhamn in Sweden.

This is a 21 m passengercraft specially designed for the service between the islands Tjörn, Åstol and Dyrön on the Swedish west coast north of Gothembourg.

The vessel can take more than 100 passengers, of which about 73 can be seated in the cabin on main deck. In the front of the superstructure a small hold have been arranged for supplies to the islands.

Further the fore deck is arranged, so the vessel have the opportunity to bring over an ambulance or a similiar vehicle.

The vessel is designed to operate from about 5 o'clock in the morning till midnight with a crew of 2 persons. They have there own cabins below main deck, in case they decide to stay on board for the night.

The vessel is further equipped with double Volvo engines, double propellers, bowthruster, double aux. engines to make the vessel operate 365 days a year.

The hull is made of steel. The construction of the hull took place in the buildings of the former Johs. Kristensen Skibsbyggeri, which since 1995 have been a part of the A/S Hvide Sande Skibs- & Baadebyggeri.

On the pic above, you see the launching of the hull from the construction hall. Afterwards the hull was taken on land again and replaced inside another hall for outfitting and mounting of superstructure etc.
