venice
- We left Milano early in the morning and arrived in Venice by mid afternoon. Later that evening we went out on the town. The bus driver told us that we have to be back at the stop by midnight. Since we thought that we could catch a taxi back to the hotel we ignored the warning and returned to the stop at one in the morning. We almost had to walk back to our hotel since there were no taxi drivers on duty. Fortunately there were several other tourists who made the same mistake and they sent over a bus to pick up all of us. During the three day stay in Venice we saw the Grand Canal which is longest and the most important waterway for the city, The Church of Santa Maria Della Salute, the Doge’s Palace and the St.Mark’s Basilica. After we finished our tour of Venice we started for our next destination which was just a little bit of an adventure.
- We left Venice by mid morning. The original plan was to go into Yugoslavia and continue onward to Hungary from there. There was just one major problem. We found the Yugoslavian border but we could not find any check point which was probably a good thing. After several unsuccessful attempts to locate the check point we changed our plans. We decided to go into Hungary through Austria instead. We arrive at the Austrian border late in the afternoon and ended the days drive in Graz Austria. The next morning we continued onward to Hungary.
